Who's a Guest Blogger?

Me! I am going to be a guest blogger on my very BFF's blog, Rub Some Dirt on It! I am so excited and thankful for Becky for my chance to shine! Ok, well, let's not get excited. It's not like I'm getting my 15 minutes of fame on The Today Show or anything...

Anyhoo, I hope you'll head over her way and check it out! I wrote a blog about the expiration dates on our cosmetics. C'mon, admit it, you have a secret stash of foundations and glosses that are there "just in case" you need to spruce up, huh?

You'll also find tons of cool crafts to do with your kids, and witty stories about life with a preschooler and toddler at Rub Some Dirt on It! Go indulge...you won't regret it!

Have a BEAUTIFUL day!

Friday's Fancies-Memorial Day Weekend

Friday's Fancies

I love Friday's Fancies! It's Memorial Day weekend, which means party time! Oh, wait, I don't have a party to go to, but I'm sure a last minute date with my honey and friends will arise. After all, Hangover Two has come to the theatres!

I am in love with these shorts! The are so breezy and beautiful! Then, I fell in love with the very expensive clutch. The shoes, ring, and makeup just made this outfit date night worthy.  Happy Memorial Day everyone. I hope you have good weather and get in some relaxing beach or pool time.

What are you wearing this Friday?

Simple Salt Body Scrub

After my post about sunless tanners, a reader asked a question about body scrubs. She wanted to know of a good one to use. I really couldn't think of one. All the ones I have used are too oily and make a slippery mess in my shower. So, I thought, why not make one? Here's a great recipe to try:

Simple Salt Body Scrub
*4 oz. pure olive oil or grapeseed oil
*8 oz. of sea salt. Fine texture is best. Do not use table salt. It’s too harsh.
*10-20 drops of lemongrass essential oil.
Place salt in a small bowl. Add ½ the olive oil, mixing well with a spoon (wooden works best). You want the mixture to be moist enough to hold together. Add the remaining olive oil until you reach this consistency. Add your desired amount of lemongrass oil and combine well. Store in a container with a lid and use once a week.

Happy scrubbing, Bloggies! Please let me know how you like your new homemade body scrub!

Have a BEAUTIFUL day!

So What? Wednesday

I thought this new Wednesday theme was fun. It allows you to be sassy and honest in a way that can be funny! What's not to love about that?

So What if I wrapped two puzzles from the garage for my son's 2nd birthday morning present? I wanted something for him to open and it was too late for me to go get something last night!

So What if I scraped the burnt toast off to sandwich my fried egg between?

So What if I ate Coldstone's chocolate ice cream for dinner?

So What if I search Realtor.com everyday for houses back up North?

And, finally, So What if, much of the time, my day's motto is, "Suck it..."

New Poll-How do you tan?

I realize that I haven't been pulling my slack on the blog's polls. I added a new one today about tanning. I am wondering how you all tan in the summer. I choose bronzer. I used to be a sun worshiper. My friend, Becky (of Rub Some Dirt on It), and I used to lay out all day at her pool stuffing our faces with Cheez-it's and Mountain Dew, singing at the top of our lungs pretending that her neighbors could really care less if we were interrupting there afternoon siestas. Ah, those were the days.

Now, I am trying to be safer in the sun. I had a mole removed a month ago that came back as a severe something-or-other. Basically, it was the disease right next to becoming melanoma...SCARY! The thing was the size of a freckle, I swear! It was very, very black, though. So, just a FYI, Bloggies, if you have anything that is little but very dark, you should go get it checked out.

With that said, I will use bronzer on my face, and slather on the SPF. It's going to be hard to stay out of the sun because I will be at the pool a lot this summer with my toddler, but you won't find me baking in the sun's rays this year (as tempting as it is). If you choose this sun safe option, as well, but want to have a tan, check out my blog on the best sunless tanners

One more thing, when choosing a family safe sunscreen, look for high zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Those will give you the best broad spectrum protection, while also being gentle on your skin.

Happy {almost}Summer, Bloggies! Have a BEAUTIFUL day!
