Product Review-Olay Thermal Mini Peel

Olay Thermal Mini Peel

I love, Love, LOVE this! I think the one thing I adore most about it is the fact that it heats up when in contact with water. That is as great thing this time of year. It makes my shower extra toasty and warm.

Seriously, though, this has not made me breakout or make me dry. I don't use it everyday; maybe every other or every two. It love it after a workout or when I feel extra grimy. It's not a very abrasive exfoliator, but the heat really brings blood flow to the surface of the skin. Plus, it has some chemical exfoliants in it, like glycolic acid, to help slough off dead skin.

It's a winter wonderland out there. Try this in the shower for some extra warmth and comfort. Love it!

P.s. I can only imagine the feeling this would bring in combination with the Clarisonic facial brush. I'll have to try it out tomorrow!

Have a BEAUTIFUL day!

Everyday Eyeshadow

Another Cover Girl steal! This eyeshadow in "mink"  is perfect on the days your eyes need a little wake-up call. It's very comparative to MAC's "naked" or "shroom." For $3 a pop, you can't go wrong!

Holiday Candle

This candle from Bath and Body Works is a little slice of winter in New England. I love it!!!

Must-have Mascara (on the cheap!)...

This is a must-have. I keep going back to it. One coat gives a natural look. But, for me. I can put 3-4 coats (no joke) and they still look pretty natural, but very full and not clumpy at all!! I can even reapply for the nighttime and it's still not clumpy! The best part is there usually is a coupon in your Sunday paper! Cover Girl LashBlast rocks!

Blogger App

Wahoo! I can hardly contain my excitement! There is a blogger app. That means blogging will be so much more convenient. That's good news for you and me, Bloggies. Have a good day!

To Buff or not to Buff?

Who needs nail polish when a buffer does the job just as well without the hassle of chipped nail polish? I had a day to myself yesterday, and what a great day it was! As I was about to chew off my cuticles, I decided to do something I never really do. I got a manicure. I went in telling them I didn't want polish and a good cleaning of my cuticles. She did a great job and then took out this buffer thinging. It was a blog with 3 different sides (files) to it. Afterwards, I was left with clean and shiny nails! I have taken two showers, swam in a pool, and washed my hands a ton since yesterday and they are still shiny!! The best part was that I didn't pay full price for a manicure with polish. I love it! I still won't go very often. I'll probably wait until my cuticles are half way up my nail, but hey, I learned something new about buffing yesterday, and I am a huge fan. What's your favorite kind of manicure to get?

Tiny Tom's

I promise not to turn this blog into baby central, but, as you know, I am having a baby girl in August, so it's just par for the course for me to blog sometimes about baby stuff. Anyhoo, I was watching Ellen today and she had first-time moms on the show. She gave away a crap load of stuff. She's so generous. I went ga-ga over these!

I can't get a picture on here (boo), but trust me, they are worth a click of the link above. They are adorable!! And, the best part is, Tom's shoes donates a pair of shoes to a child in need for EVERY pair sold. How 'bout them apples?

Peace and love, Bloggies...

Have a BEAUTIFUL day!

Product Review: Covergirl LashBlast 24 hr. Mascara

Covergirl 24 Hour Mascara
The only three things that made me not return this mascara are these:
1.) It holds a curl great!
2.) It doesn't smudge
3.) It makes my lashes very long

The bottom line? I have this in black, and the color is too light and gray. The pigment is not the best. I suppose if you want to try it, you may want to try the "very black" color.
Have you tried it? What did you think?

Have a BEAUTIFUL day!

I wanna Know!

I was waiting in line at Target the other day and something caught my eye. Well, maybe a couple of things. The first was the summer Glamour magazine. I'm a sucker for change-of-the-season magazines, aren't you? Anyhoo, the second was Lauren Conrad's gorgeous highlights. I love 'em! And, the third was how ridiculously skinny she is! Now...

I wanna know! Is it me ( I am 5 months pregnant and feel like a cow), or is Lauren Conrad super skinny lately? Her head looks bigger than her body. That's a sure sign of a girl who is too thin. Or, it's just my mind playing tricks on me? Her hair is so pretty, though...

Product Review: Thayer's Alcohol-Free Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner

Thayer's Alcohol-Free Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner
I cannot say enough about this stuff! You can find it at your local health food store, and you really should go get some! I love how it feels on my skin. It is not drying at all, and actually moisturizes my skin just enough. It is my favorite thing to use after my Lush Ultrabland Cleanser. And, shh...I don't even use a moisturizer after using this. Plus, it's only $10!

Bottom Line? Yes, yes, yes! I have Thayer's other toners, but the Rose is by far my favorite.
Tip: Did you know that rose water is naturally hydrating, antibacterial, antimicrobial, and rich in vitamins A,C,D, and E? Go get some!

Carolina Pre-Summer

Carolina Pre-SummerOne thing I am sure of, is that I love pink! And, it's a good thing, because we are having a GIRL! That's right, Bloggies...A girl that I get to share my beauty tips with. Don't get me wrong, she'll still be wearing her brother's hand-me-downs whilst digging in the dirt and playing ball, but she will know how to respect her beauty and devour it. This Friday's Fancies is for baby-girl-to-be. I love you so much already! Keep cooking, and we'll see you in August!

Sorry I've missed so many of these Friday's Fancies, Long Distance Lovin'. I've sort of been busy ;).

Product Review: Lush Ultrabland Cleanser

Ok, Bloggies. I'm back. And, I have an important announcement for you all! I have a bun in the oven! Yup, you heard that right. My little guy is going to be a big brother to a little sister. Ok, now that that is out of the way, here is a very overdue product review:

Lush Ultrabland Cleanser
My skin has been a hormonal mess, and this has really been a lifesaver! I did a lot of research on it before my purchase, and I'm so happy I bought it. I am on my second tub. It is a thick, creamy oil-based cleanser. It has virtually no scent and feels luxurious on my skin. It has an almond oil base, and gets rid of all my makeup. My waterproof mascara needs a little extra help but this gets off some of it.

I really think this cleanser has helped balance out my skin, hydrate it, and help it heal faster. I still get the occasional blemish, but nothing my Nelson's Acne Gel can't handle!

Bottom Line? Go for it! I apply it dry, massage it in, then remove it with a hot baby washcloth. I then wet a cotton pad with my favorite toner (review to come), and swipe once with that. There is really never any residue left! Let me know when you try it and what you think of it!

Have a BEAUTIFUL day!

I Wanna Know!

I haven't done this segment in a while. I'm sorry. I guess I haven't seen anything that caught my eye in a while. Well, lo and behold this:

Meow! by Katy Perry

Not only is this a perfume stored in an ugly cat bottle, but there is an ad for it in Vogue! Really? What beauty-obsessed, Vogue-reading adult would actually buy this? I mean, I can totally see it on the pages of Tiger Beat (do they even publish that anymore?) and Seventeen, but not Vogue!

So, I wanna know. Would you buy this perfume?

Lady Antebellum's Make-up Must Haves

Did you know Hillary Scott does her own makeup before shows? She says "it helps calm my jitters," according to InStyle magazine. Here are a few products she can't live without:

Amazing Cosmetics Powder Set:
"It makes everything waterproof so I don't worry about my makeup sweating off."

Stila Long Wear Lip Color in Darling:
Long Wear Lip Color
"It's easier to pull off a berry lip than a classic red. This stain has a chubby tip, so it's a cinch to apply."

Sonia Kashuk black HOLIDAY 6PC BRUSH SET
"Best makeup brushes ever. I stock up on them whenever I'm at Target."

Must have artwork!

Remember that Massachusetts necklace I raved about? I found something else "Bostony" that would be a lovely addition to our home. I found this Etsy shop in my InStyle magazine. I'm thinking it might be a nice Valentine's gift for our house!
I love it with the hot chocolate background and either a fushia or cherry red heart (just in case hubby is reading ;)).

And, I would love to get one of these made for my little cherub, so he'll always be reminded of where he was born and spent the early years of his life (obviously with his birth state):

Hometown near my heart...

Do remember how I told you my husband and I took a leap of faith 6 years ago and left Massachusetts, 16-hours away, to North Carolina? Well, if not, now you know. Not that I'm ye of little faith, but it just still doesn't feel like home, so can you imagine my excitement when I found this necklace? I'm always trying to find ways to have Boston close to my heart.

How frickin' cute is this? It even has a stone where Boston lies. I think this will be going on my Pinterest board so that I can remember it when my birthday rolls around!

What state do you keep close to your heart?

Have a BEAUTIFUL day!

Poncho or not to Poncho?

For some reason, I'm really loving this Tory Burch Caterina poncho (not that I could ever afford it). I love colors and versatility. It can be worn just like in this picture in the spring.

Or like this in the summer over a bathing suit:

or it could be layered under a long sleeve shirt and jeggings with Uggs for the winter!

Oh, to dream and have money to buy expensive things!

A Word About Hydroquinone

Hydroquinone (HQ) is a skincare ingredient that you may or may not have heard of.  You probably have if you suffer from melasma or any other kind of deeply pigmented skin (acne scarring, sun damage/spots). Chances are your doctor or skin care therapist has prescribed you a product with said ingredient in it. I don't want to be long winded here, but there is a lot of controversy on the subject of hydroquinone. There are websites out there, like this one: will scare the bejesus out of you if you have used or are currently using HQ. Now, I must say there are safer ways to get rid of pigmentation and I do believe the claims of such websites to an extent. The product has been banned in Europe, and that has to say something. They are so much more strict on the ingredients used in skincare and food. With that said, anything they ban is probably cause for concern (at least I think so).

On the other hand, I also think that hydroquinone has gotten a bad rep based on studies done in areas where women were abusing the product, such as Asia and Africa. Asian and African women, in general,  have a stronger desire to even out their skin and lighten it. Tangent: For what reason? I don't know. I think their skin is beautiful just as it is. I guess it's just society's sick way of telling people what's beautiful and what's not. End Tangent. A lot of women were buying extreme amounts of hydroquinone. The US only allows 2% (at most) of HG in products.

I am writing about this ingredient because, as a teenager and 20-something acne sufferer, I would do anything to get rid of those pesky red acne scars; just as much as your 40 and 50-somethings who want to rid of those pesky "sun spots." There are other ways...

I was just reading about this product called, Luminaze. It's probably expensive, and only sold in select department stores, but you should check out their website. It's mushroom and enzyme based. The mushrooms were found in the Swiss Alps. It seemed as though all the bark surrounding these particular mushrooms were decoulorized, so the scientists took off with it, and figured out it can do the same thing to meltonin (the dark spots and melasma) in the skin.

Here's their website if you want more information:
It looks pretty cool, but just a little out of my budget right now. If you try it, let me know how it works!

Covergirl Ad

I love everything about this ad! Her makeup is beautiful, her brows are full and perfectly shaped, and the lips? Oh gosh. It definitely makes me want to go buy that exact shade! I guess the marketing is spot on, eh?

I also love her hair. I have the corner of my magazine flipped down because I think the color is great. Women should wear their hair sleek and pulled back like that more often. It's so pretty. It really emphasizes a beautiful face.

Have a BEAUTIFUL day!
